Uniform/Dress Code

The Norwalk-LaMirada Unified School District has a school uniform policy for all students in grades Tk-8

Lampton Uniform Attire

  • White short or long sleeved shirts with collars - no athletic style T-shirts

  • Lampton shirts in white or school color

  • Dark navy blue skirts, skorts, jumpers, pants or shorts. (Denim jeans are discouraged as they easily fade and will create an undue financial burden to parents for replacement.)

  • Shoes that allow for participation in physical education (ie. tennis shoes)

  • Students may continue to wear jackets or sweaters that they have already been using for cold and/or wet weather as long as they meet the dress code. (When you replace them, please do so with navy blue or white sweaters or jackets.)

Resources will be available to assist economically disadvantaged students.  An Opt-Out form is available in the school office.  This must be completed annually.

Guide to Appropriate Clothing and Grooming

  • Gang markings on anything (shirts, pants, belts, shorts, jewelry, etc.) are not allowed.

  • Hats or caps are not allowed.

  • Clothing with team logos, especially Raiders, Kings, Socks or Georgetown Hoyas are not allowed.

Pants, Shorts, Skirts:

  • All clothing should not be more than 2 inches larger in the waist, thigh, and mid calf.

  • Shorts and skirts must be hemmed and should be at least mid-thigh in length (fingertip length).

  • Shorts should not extend below the knee.

  • Pants that sag below the waist, drag on the ground, or have a frayed hem or holes are not allowed.

Shirts:

  • All tops/blouses should cover the child’s shoulders, back, tummy and chest. Tank tops, muscle shirts, bare midriff and backless tops are not allowed.

  • Shirts that advertise alcoholic, pornographic (sexually related or obscene gestures or pictures) or have inappropriate phrases, words or pictures, or promote violence, bigotry, sexism, or illegal activities are not allowed.

  • Extra long, untucked shirts are not allowed.

Miscellaneous:

  • Large hoop or extended length earrings, noisy jewelry, sharp metal rings or studs are not allowed.

  • White knee length socks may not be worn with shorts.

  • Excessive hair styles are not allowed.

  • Bandanas are not allowed.

  • Undergarments must not be visible.

  • Footwear must be appropriate, safe to run in, have no open toes, and have straps in the back.

The Lampton Elementary School Dress Code will be modified as needed to address student safety issues.
